The Darkhours Episode CLXIX:  Rain makes a perfect reason to listen to Internet Radio.

What happens at 10pm every Wednesday night? A bitchin’ party you can have in your very own home. The Darkhours keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer and happy when it rains. How is that done? Musical magic mixes and the bizarre brain of DJ Darkstar delivers the fun needed on the bleakest of nights. The best part has always been it’s unpredictability. It’s not scripted, it’s irreverent and at times it can even be aggravating. You may agree with his views or you may hate everything that comes out of his mouth, but after it all, you’ll be glad you were there.

The Darkhours: Always fun… Always Free.

Don’t be the one who missed out and had to hear about it from your friends.

Small victories and able to breathe

The Parlor is calmer than it was Monday night. Our dog, Chester, has been found and returned and we have relaxed a little bit around here. I have been making toasted pumpkin seeds as I plan to make both pumpkin pie and bread from scratch. I love to cook for the holidays, so I might just share my pumpkin bread and toasted pumpkin seed recipes on air tonight. Also, look for yet another great educational website for the kids from my list! Beyond this, who knows what mirth merriment, and maybe even a little mayhem might show up at the Parlor tonight. Join us at 6:00 pm to find out!

Kittyn Heather Back on Tuesday Tonight at 10 with Mama Prude and a Bottle of Fat Cat Wine

Hello, Mojo! I'm back, I'm feeling better and I've got a new bottle of wine with the coolest name and picture on the label for tonight's show so who knows, it might even be a good one! You can see the pictures below, tonight we're drinkin' the Fat Cat! You don't have to drink with me but feel free if you so desire and at least come and listen! It's been weeks since I've felt alright and tonight even Mama Prude isn't going to get to me!

What to expect? Who the hell knows. Lots of bad language and me being stupid and I drink more wine and my clueless mother who either doesn't hear what I say or doesn't understand the other half. We'll play some bad music and have no smooth mixes but it should still be fun. I'm sure someone in chat will trigger something and we'll go from there!

So please come join us in chat, you can make any name you want and you don't even have to register. Just enter a name and skip password and poof, you're in.

Come join me tonight for some fun, some wit in poor taste, some down in the gutter talk and a bottle of Fat Cat merlot!

10PM NY time. TRY ME, I'M FREE!

Monday, how I never miss you.

First of all, I must apologize for there being no show or blog on Friday. I had pressing family issues that needed to be attended to. Family is first here in the parlor, and it had to be that way on Friday. I apologize for the inconvenience, and I will make a conscious effort to make sure that it does not happen again.
Its Monday and a leaky roof has made for an interesting morning thus far. Why does crappy stuff always happen on a Monday? I have spent the weekend thinking of the meaning of the words "love" and "friendship". These words should never be taken lightly and it seems that they have been. I like to think that I bring good people into my life, but sometimes I have to wonder.
Enough bad news. Tonight will be an uplifting show with great fun and even better music. Wait until you see what I have in store for you in the parlor. Check it out tonight at 6:00 PM.

Veterans, Remembrance, Armistice Day and the Opium Wars. aka Happy Birthday Kurt Vonnegut!

Yesterday was Veterans Day in the US, Remembrance Day in the UK and once, a very long time ago, was Armistice Day all over the world. Oh, and it was Kurt Vonnegut’s birthday.

I’m in England these days and they a make a big deal about poppies, poppies being a symbol of death, specifically in war. They get very indignant about these symbols of theirs, putting up signs and wearing buttons that say things like, “if you are offended by my poppy get the fuck out of my country!” How similar they are to Americans, confusing symbols for reality and the map for the terrain. As a veteran myself, I’m not a big fan of these symbols. I leave the symbols to the symbol minded, ‘cause all the pretty slogans and icons can’t wipe the reality from my mind. When I see the poppies I’m just reminded of the Opium Wars, when the UK and US were the biggest drug dealers on the block and wiped out anyone who tried to get clean. Rehab is for quitters, and in that case quitters were gonna die.

So, tonight I’ll be celebrating Kurt Vonnegut’s birthday by discussing war, peace, poppies, veterans and music. Music is the best things that humans have come up with (sex, after all isn’t our invention, no matter what each new generation may think), so let’s lose ourselves in it for a while.

Tune in at 11pm GMT (6pm Eastern in the USA, Midnight in Western Europe) to KMRL Mojo Radio Live, and if I offend you (...then maybe you need to be offended...), if you agree, or just want to say hello come into the chat room and let me know.

“I will come to a time in my backwards trip when November eleventh, accidentally my birthday, was a sacred day called Armistice Day.
When I was a boy, and when Dwayne Hoover was a boy, all the people of all the nations which had fought in the First World War
were silent during the eleventh minute of the eleventh hour of Armistice Day, which was the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

It was during that minute in nineteen hundred and eighteen, that millions upon millions of human beings stopped butchering one another.
I have talked to old men who were on battlefields during that minute. They have told me in one way or another that the sudden silence was
the Voice of God. So we still have among us some men who can remember when God spoke clearly to mankind.

Armistice Day has become Veterans’ Day. Armistice Day was sacred. Veterans’ Day is not.

So I will throw Veterans’ Day over my shoulder. Armistice Day I will keep. I don’t want to throw away any sacred things.

What else is sacred? Oh, Romeo and Juliet, for instance.

And all music is.”

The Darkhours Episode CLXVIII: Escape the bleakness of humanity with the Darkhours

Let’s pretend I have a ship. This is a starship to another world...where life is more fun than it actually is. Lets go to a world where we can escape.  See, lately, the Darkhours was a place to escape the mundane happy common world. That world has gotten darker… It’s almost like you don’t wanna live in it. So let’s escape to a land that costs nothing and brings smiles. The DARKHOURS! Maybe we should rename the show, huh?

Either way, it’s good escapist fun! Two hours to let your ears help your mind wander as you surf the internet anyway…

The Darkhours: Always fun… Always Free.

Don’t be the one who missed out and had to hear about it from your friends.
